Tackled Sooner fan receives probation

NORMAN — Norman Municipal Court reported the Sooner fan tackled by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Nov. 16 after running out onto Owen Field received a deferred sentence of six-month probation.

Ronald Butch Mais, 35, of Edmond, was apologetic after running out onto the field during the Sooner’s game against Iowa State. Mais said he had just become overly excited.

His sentence of six-months probation was deferred to June 11. A municipal court clerk said Mais paid all court fees and costs after he pled no contest.

According to the OUPD offense report, Mais was apprehended for disturbing the peace of the fans, players and officials.
