NORMAN — A victim of last May’s Moore tornado received a surprise Monday when he was given a car by AAA Oklahoma.
The man, a 67-year-old Vietnam veteran, has struggled from time to time with homelessness. But for the last five years, he worked as a caretaker for a pair or neighboring homes in Moore. His situation changed dramatically when both homes were destroyed in the May 20 twister.
The vehicle, a 2009 Honda Accord, was donated by Oklahoma City’s CSAA (AAA) Insurance Group after being restored by Body Works Collision Centers. The Oklahoma City Salvation Army selected the recipient and AAA Oklahoma gave him a six-month auto insurance policy and a one-year AAA membership.
“I never imagined,” said the new owner of the Honda.
