NORMAN — Noble will participate in the University of Oklahoma’s annual Big Event again this year. In an effort to give back to the community, OU students and faculty join members of the community to assist in various projects from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on April 13. Noble will clean city parks.
“We have three popular parks in Noble needing to be freshened up,” Robin Parker, volunteer, said.
Riley Park on north Main Street, Dane Park at 8th and Maguire, and Kenneth King Park on Kenneth King Drive and Maguire in Noble are all slated to be spruced up. Volunteers will pick up trash and sticks, mulch and weed landscaped areas, prepare community garden beds for spring planting and pick up roadside trash.
Community volunteers should bring gloves and yard tools and meet at their park of choice at 9 a.m. The OU Big Event volunteers will arrive at 10 a.m. It is estimated that with enough volunteers, the parks should be cleaned by 12:30 p.m., Parker said.
“Please pass the word and recruit as many community helpers as possible,” Parker said. “This is a great way to give back to the Noble community.”
