NORMAN — Moore Norman Technology Center’s Digital Video Production and Graphic Design classes will host the fifth annual Red Carpet Film Festival at 7 p.m. April 13 at the Sam Noble Museum in Norman. Tickets are $7 and must be purchased in advance due to limited seating.
The Red Carpet Film Festival promotes the expanding film community in Oklahoma and energizes the students’ creative spirit. The 10 short films to be shown during the event are the culmination of MNTC students’ work from the DVP and graphic design classes.
Students from the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma once again provided original scores and sound design for the movies. New this year, Chris Freihofer, CSA, with Freihofer Casting, worked with DVP students to learn the casting process. Freihofer Casting held an open casting call to find local talent for the movies.
In addition to the feature short films, DVP first year students and students from Great Plains Technology Center in Lawton and Tulsa Technology Center will present short shorts based on four provided titles.

MNTC students earn scholarships
Two Moore Norman Technology Center Automotive Service Technology students were recently awarded scholarships; one through the MNTC Business and Education Council and one through the Michael Walls Scholarship.
Josh Fields earned a $1,000 scholarship and was presented with the honors this week. The scholarship may be used to purchase automotive industry tools or for continuing education.
The award is made possible by the Automotive Service Technology advisory council committee and from contributions provided by local automotive dealers and shop owners who contribute funds annually toward the foundation.
Additionally Kathy Walls, Michael’s mother, presented the Michael Walls Scholarship to Norman North High School senior Jacob Rogers.
Michael Walls was an MNTC Auto Service Technology graduate who died in December 1991. His family and friends established the scholarship in his honor. The $500 Michael Walls Scholarship is awarded to a high school student wishing to pursue or continue employment in the automotive career field and possibly post-secondary opportunities.
