Neighbors watched as firefighters worked to extinguish house fire on Sturtz Circle

NORMAN — A large group of neighbors stood and watched 605 Sturtz Circle burn Sunday afternoon.

The two-story structure in the Arbor Lake neighborhood was fully involved when firefighters arrived at the scene at 2:45 p.m. Four stations, 17 firefighters, EMSTAT and Norman Police all responded to the call.

Fire chief James Fullingim said when firefighters arrived, the fire was in two rooms and the attic.

“The fire rapidly developed and took us about 45 minutes to bring under control,” Fullingim said.

No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries, Fullingim said. The homeowner asked not to be named and had no comment while firefighters continued to work on putting the fire out.

The start of the fire is not yet known, Fullingim said.
