Fraudulent email alleges corruption

NORMAN — An email sent to Mayor Cindy Rosenthal, city council members and several media sources is a fraud, Council member Robert Castleberry said.

The email sender is identified as robertcastleberrycpa@gmail.com, but that is not Castleberry’s email address and the group email did not come from him. The email made allegations of corruption and criminal activity by a Norman businessman and city council members during summer 2012.

Castleberry said while he could not speak to the veracity of the content of the email, he did not send it.

“I would have sent something like that to the DA,” Castleberry said

Research by the Transcript’s IT department indicates the sender likely established a gmail account with Castleberry’s name on it as part of what appears to be a hoax.
