NORMAN — The first Norman Children’s Garden Growing Garden event will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in Andrews Park between the amphitheater and the Andrews building and the gazebo and the splash pad.
The city of Norman will supply snacks while musical groups provide children’s music throughout the day.
Organizers want the Norman Children’s Garden to be a place of hope, strength and healing for the community. The event offers adults a chance to be educated on the issue of child abuse, celebrate the blessing of childhood and come together as a community.
Children and adults are invited to the art station to create a pinwheel or blue ribbon to place in the Growing Garden. Agencies will be on site to provide information to adults about child abuse prevention and the help and support that is offered to children who are facing or have faced abuse.
