NORMAN — The Saturday Norman Galaxy of Writers meeting will host a panel of poets from 10 a.m. to noon at the University Lutheran Center, 914 Elm Ave. Parking is availalbe in the rear off College Street.
Former Poet Laureate of Oklahoma (2001-2003) Carl Sennhenn taught English and humanities for 50 years. He won the Oklahoma Center for the Book award in poetry in 2013 for “Nocturnes and Sometimes, Even I” and in 2006 for “Travels Through Enchanted Woods.” Now in semi-retirement, Sennhenn teaches creative writing for senior adults at Rose State College.
Also speaking will be Hugo native Robert Ferrier, a published poet and photographer. His poems have appeared in 10 literary journals, and he has given presentations and workshops on the craft of poetry. Ferrier was a 2007 nominee for poet laureate of Oklahoma.
Carol Hamilton has won many awards, including the Southwest Book Award, an Oklahoma Book Award, the Byline Literary Awards for short story and poetry, and the Warren Keith Poetry Prize.
She has published 16 books of poetry, legends and children’s novels, and publishes poetry, short stories and articles in magazines and journals.
