Television journalist Woodruff to visit OU

NORMAN — Senior correspondent and co-anchor for PBS “NewsHour” Judy Woodruff will cap off the fall semester’s President’s Associates dinner series focusing on the 2012 Presidential Election on Monday evening at the University of Oklahoma.

Woodruff, an award-winning journalist, will discuss “The Impact of the Presidential Election on America’s Future” in the Molly Shi Boren of the Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Ave., after a dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m.

A 30-year veteran of journalism specializing in political coverage, Woodruff has served CNN, NBC and PBS. She has been a visiting professor on public policy at Duke and Harvard Universities. Woodruff is also the founding co-chair of the Internation Women’s Media Foundation, dedicated to promoting women in communication industries around the world.

Previous guests to Fall 2012 President’s Associates dinners include CNN political correspondent Candy Crowley and co-chairs of presidentially-nominated debt reduction commission Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson, whose famed bipartisan report was published in 2010.

Preceding the evening’s lecture/dinner event, Woodruff also will be honored as the recipient of the 2012 Gaylord Prize for Excellence in Journalism and Mass Communication at a luncheon in Oklahoma City.

The prize is awarded annually to journalists with lengthy and distinguished careers, and is made possible by an endowment from the Edward L. Gaylord family.
