NORMAN — Norman police on Friday arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with the shooting death of 20-year-old Nicholas Williams, the victim of the Sept. 14 homicide at the Quorum Condominiums in Norman.
The arrest was made Friday afternoon on complaints of murder in the first degree and burglary in the first degree and the teen was booked into the Cleveland County jail at 11:02 p.m. Saturday.
According to the police report, detectives learned that the juvenile resided in the same apartment complex as the victim, and officers believe he was burglarizing the victim’s residence when he shot Williams. Williams was shot while inside his apartment at around 9 a.m. that Saturday. He was able to call 911 for assistance and made statements to police officers before he died at Norman Regional Hospital.
Formal charges are pending with the Cleveland County District Attorney’s Office, and police investigators expect the juvenile to be charged as an adult next week, according to the release by Capt. Tom Easley.
