NORMAN — The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History received first place in the Brochures and Rack Cards category of the 2013 Mountain-Plains Museums Association competition.
The Sam Noble Museum Educator’s Guide 2012-2013 was designed by Hadley Jerman and printed at OU Printing Services.
Established in 1953, MPMA is a regional museum association that provides services to museum professionals in Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wyoming. MPMA is one of six regional associations in the United States that work with the American Association of Museums.
In the Technology Competition for institutions with operating budgets exceeding $250,000, the Sam Noble Museum received the award for online presence for the institution’s 2013 social media campaign, which included Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr Blog, Instagram and YouTube.
Jen Tregarthen, from the museum’s marking and public relations department, managed the campaign.
“We have always been very proud of our publications and it is great to be recognized by our peers,” museum director Michael Mares said.
MPMA President Joe Schenk announced the awards, which will be presented during the association’s annual conference in Lincoln, Neb., from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3.
