NORMAN — Moore merchants began collecting an additional quarter-cent sales tax Monday.
In November, Moore voters approved an increase of 0.25 percent to the city of Moore sales tax for improvements to parks.
The new total amount charged on purchases will be 8.5 percent. Of the new amount, the city receives 3.75 percent, the state 4.5 percent and Cleveland County 0.25 percent.
Merchants are asked to make this change within their collection systems so they can remit the correct amount and not have to pay any differences from their profits.
