Steve Faler joins First American Bank

NORMAN — After 33 years in the banking industry, Steve Faler has joined First American Bank’s central Oklahoma lending team as senior vice president.

Faler began his career in 1979 at Security National Bank of Norman, a bank that was eventually purchased by Arvest Bank. Throughout his career, Faler has worked in nearly every banking capacity: teller, consumer and commercial lending, investments, cash management, finance and accounting, operations, wire transfers, budgeting, branch planning and administration. Faler most recently served as senior vice president and commercial banking division manager.

“First American Bank is ecstatic to welcome Steve to our lending team. His knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our customers,” said Neil Schemmer, president of First American Bank.

Faler attended the University of Oklahoma, where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in finance. He went on to the Intermediate School of Banking to get his OBA and then received his ABA at Commercial Lending School. Faler finished his education in Boulder, Colo., where he attended graduate school.

“Steve has a wealth of experience and will be an incredible addition to First American Bank. His expertise in lending will be combined with that of our current lending team to keep First American Bank at the forefront in commercial and personal lending in central Oklahoma,” said Jim McAuley, bank CEO.

His goals line up well with the things that First American Bank strives daily to achieve within the community.

“Their commitment to provide outstanding service to their customers and their communities is what makes First American Bank such a special place to work,” Faler said.

His position on the bank’s lending team brings Faler to the First American Bank corporate headquarters in Norman.

Faler is a past board member of the Norman Public School Foundation, United Way of Norman, Christmas in April of Cleveland County and the American Heart Association. Faler is currently a member of the Norman and Oklahoma City chambers of commerce.
