NORMAN — The largest hailstone reported to the National Weather Service early Sunday morning was two inches in diameter on the southwest side of Norman.

“The brunt of it went over Norman,” said Michael Scotten, NWS senior forecaster. “There were numerous reports of quarter to hen egg-size hail between about 3:50 a.m. and continuing to Noble by 4:25 a.m.”

The two-inch hail was reported near 24th Avenue Southwest and Brooks Street.

Scotten said wind gusts measured 59 mph at Max Westheimer Airport at 3:55 a.m.

He said the storm was moving northwest to southeast pretty rapidly.

There is a chance of some storms Monday night, but it’s very unlikely they’ll be strong or severe, Scotten said.

“It’s going to be a wet, cool week,” he said.
