NORMAN — Firefighters extinguished a shop fire Easter morning at Automax Hyundai, 501 N. Interstate Drive.

Norman Deputy Fire Chief Jim Bailey said the call came in about 8:30 a.m. and no one was in the repair shop at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

Bailey said preliminary damage estimates were around $85,000. There was about $50,000 of damage to the structure and several cars had smoke damage, he said.

Since the gate and building were locked, it took firefighters about 15 minutes to gain access to the structure and about 15 minutes to get the fire under control, Bailey said.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
