NORMAN — A train hit a pedestrian Saturday morning at the Brooks Street railroad tracks killing the man.
The accident happened about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Norman police.
Norman Police Lt. Lance Arnold said the train was traveling northbound when it hit the man. A motorist stopped at the railroad crossing reported the collision to police.
Norman police and University of Oklahoma Police officers responded. Police said the victim died at the scene.
Police were working Saturday to identify the man, according to Norman police.
The Norman Police Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team (CIRT), along with Norman Police Criminal Investigations Division and BNSF police are investigating the accident.
Traffic was blocked on Boyd Street, Brooks Street and Lindsey Street for several hours Saturday afternoon as officers investigated the scene.
Arnold said all railroad tracks re-opened about 3 p.m. Saturday.
The Norman Fire Department also responded to the accident Saturday morning.
