NORMAN — Norman police pursued two burglary suspects through parts of Norman and Moore Sunday night until it was terminated for the public’s safety.
Police began pursuing the burglary suspects around 10:18 p.m. near Robinson Street and Flood Avenue. An officer in pursuit reported that the suspects threw items out of the car several times during the chase, which officers later recovered.
The pursuit stretched westbound on Robinson, to Interstate 35 northbound and eastbound on 19th Street in Moore. Officers reported the suspects throwing items out near the Rock Creek bridge and on 19th Street. Some of the items recovered included checkbooks, identification cards and credit cards, officers reported.
The pursuit was terminated around 10:25 p.m. on 19th Street, just east of Bryant Avenue, for the safety of the general motoring public, a press release issued Monday states.
The pursuit began when officers were attempting to make contact with the subjects, in the suspect vehicle, in reference to several burglaries they were suspected of committing.
During the pursuit, a Norman police vehicle sustained a flat tire after the vehicle struck a curb.
No injuries have been reported.
