Special section will honor veterans

NORMAN — Duty, honor, country.

Valor, sacrifice, heroism.

These words describe the men and women serving in our armed forces. From the beaches of Normandy to the jungles of Vietnam to the desert sands of Iraq and Afghanistan, our military personnel serve with distinction.

The Transcript is planning a special Veterans Day section, to be published Nov. 11. We are asking for your stories.

We also ask for the loan of photos of your heroes, whether freshly starched or combat weary.

Please limit your stories to about 500 words.

Write up your stories, light-hearted or serious, and send them with a photo and return address to: Debra Parker, editor, at dparker@ normantranscript.com.

Or mail submissions to American Heroes; c/o Debra Parker, editor; The Norman Transcript; 215 E. Comanche St.; P.O. Drawer 1058; Norman, OK 73070.

Deadline for submissions is Oct. 15.
