NORMAN — Rebuilding Together Cleveland County, formerly known as Christmas in April, is a small branch of the national organization Rebuilding Together. Rebuilding Together leads the nation in unifying volunteers to improve the lives of low-income and elderly homeowners through free home repairs.

On this year’s Rebuild Day, Saturday, one of the homes RTCC will work on belongs to a Norman resident for over 36 years and a mother of three. With her husband dying unexpectedly two years ago, her family has had to make significant adjustments as he was solely responsible for the upkeep of their home.

“The homeowners we serve often have great needs and Rebuilding Together has limited resources. The generosity from our volunteers each year is what keeps us going,” said Jared Jakubowski, RTCC board president.

“The program benefits everyone involved. Repairs allow homeowners, especially the elderly, to continue to live independently and safely in their homes, volunteers from all walks of life unite to rebuild the community, and our community becomes a stronger and better place to live.”

Rebuilding Together Cleveland County was formed in 1996 and has been dedicated to supporting homeownership by making homes safe, secure and weather-tight for low-income and/or elderly homeowners ever since.
