NORMAN — The Cleveland County Election Board processed 545 new voter registration applications in April. They’re hoping to get even more this week, with the registration deadline for voters wanting to cast ballots in the June 24 primary election coming up Friday.
“We expect an increase closer to the elections,” Assistant Election Board Secretary Anette Pretty said.
As of May 1, the Election Board reports that there are 68,208 registered Republican voters, 53,106 registered Democrat voters and 20,338 registered Independent voters, equaling 141,652 total registered voters.
Oklahoma residents who are U.S. citizens and are at least 18 years old may register. Application forms are available at the County Election Board office, 641 E. Robinson St., at all tag agencies, post offices and public libraries in the county and online for download at clevelandcountyelectionboard.com.
Residents may register by mail or in person at the election board office. Applications must be postmarked no later than midnight Friday to qualify to vote June 24.
Ward 2 council candidates — as well as numerous county, state and federal candidates — will be on the ballot.
