NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma School of Music is presenting the 2013-2014 Norton Lecture Series, a scholarly public lecture selection presented by faculty and students of the School of Music.

The informative lectures are free and open to the public and will be in the Catlett Music Center, Room 131, 500 W. Boyd St.

“A Tribe Called Red: Reversing Stereotypes Through Remix” is 5 p.m. Sept. 18 with Dr. Christina Giacona, instructor of Native American music.

“The Form of Chopin’s Nocturne in G Minor, Op. 15, No. 3” is 5 p.m. Oct. 30 with Dr. Frank Riddick, visiting assistant professor of music theory.

“An Investigation of the Career Decision-Making Processes of Graduate Piano Students” is 5 p.m. Nov. 20 with Dr. Hector Landa, Ph.D.

“The Symbiotic Relationship Between Music and Poetry” is 5 p.m. Feb. 5 with Dr. Ricardo Souza, world music percussion instructor.

“Medieval Learning and Vernacular Music: The Songs of the Cleric-Trouvéres” is 5 p.m. March 5 with Dr. Jennifer Saltzstein, associate professor of music (musicology).
