NORMAN — The Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain is currently accepting online applications and scheduling auditions for the state’s premier arts academy for high school students.
“Quartz Mountain is the place where your dreams will become a reality,” said Ian Murray, a Norman North High School student. “The friends you will make and the adventures you will have are unforgettable.”
Every accepted student automatically receives a full scholarship to the program, worth over $3,000. Auditions begin in January at locations across the state, including Norman, with scheduling available at www.oaiquarz.org.
Held June 15 – 30, the program is taught by nationally renowned artists and offers instruction in acting, creative writing, ballet, modern dance, orchestra, chorus, drawing/painting, photography, and film/video.
OSAI students are taught by award-winning faculty from across the U.S. Former OSAI faculty members have included winners of the Pulitzer Prize and the Academy, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards. This year’s faculty includes former New York City Ballet dancer Brian Reeder and New York-based photographer Troy Word.
To attend OSAI, applicants must be enrolled in an Oklahoma public school, private school, or home-school program and must be at least 15 years old by Sept. 1, 2013. Graduating seniors are eligible. Metro-area auditions will be held at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma City Ballet, and the University of Central Oklahoma.
