NORMAN — Following the announcement that Councilman Tom Kovach will not seek another term, Clint Williams announced that he will run for the Norman City Council Ward 2 seat.

“Having lived 12 years of my life in Norman, I’m excited about the possibility to serve and to help the community continue its growth and prosperity,” Williams said.

As the executive director of the Mary Abbott Children’s House and former executive director of The Xenia Institute, Williams has spent his professional life working for causes in the public domain.

“I spent great amounts of time and energy helping people listen to each other and work together, and I believe working toward shared goals is integral to our city’s future success,” Williams said in his announcement.

As a member of Leadership Norman class of 2012, he said he learned firsthand the importance of a strong business community and its benefit to the city.

He has served on the Development Oversight Committee for TIF District No. 2.

“Above all, I am committed to the people of Norman,” Williams said. “I am a listener and a leader — a person who thinks carefully and weighs all the facts before making a decision. I would consider it a great honor to represent the people of Ward 2 as we move forward together.”
