NORMAN — High school seniors at Little Axe Public Schools will be able to submit applications to colleges Friday during a college application event.
The Little Axe event is part of Oklahoma’s inaugural College App Week, a project of Oklahoma GEAR UP, according to a news release from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
With the help of volunteers, seniors will fill out application from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Little Axe High School, which is in eastern Norman.
The project is designed to get more senior students, especially those who haven’t considered attending college and those from first generation college families, to apply and establish relationships with colleges and universities that will hopefully lead to enrollment, according to the news release.
GEAR UP, a federally funded program administered by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, is designed to better prepare middle and high school students for college through academic preparation programs and scholarships for students, professional development activities for educators and college access information for students and parents.
