NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma Police Department has five police officers who will graduate from the basic police academy conducted by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) in Ada. The graduation ceremony will be Friday at the CLEET Academy in Ada.

Officer Dustin Crawford, Officer Cody Jaynes, Officer Tommie Johnson III, Officer Hunter McAlister and Officer Matthew Wallace have completed 14 weeks of training and will be certified as peace officers by the state of Oklahoma.

Upon their return to OUPD, they will continue their training in the Police Training Officer program during the next several months. Officer David Real, who had already graduated from the basic police academy at the time he was hired, is in the Police Training Officer program. During the Police Training Officer program, each new officer is partnered with a trainer who mentors and assesses the development of the new officer’s proficiency.
