NORMAN — The Norman Veterans Committee, appointed by the mayor, is planning another Veterans Day Parade at 10 a.m. Nov. 9.
This year’s parade will follow a slightly extended route, starting on Eufaula Street, moving north on Webster Avenue, east on Main Street, and south on James Garner Boulevard, proceeding south on Jenkins Avenue to Constitution Avenue and terminating in Reaves Park at the Cleveland County Veterans’ Memorial.
The theme for the parade this year is “Red, White and Blue — Veterans on the March.” Organizers are seeking honor guards, marching bands, floats, motorcycle groups and car clubs all with the same underlying desire: to honor veterans who have served the U.S.
Following the parade, there will be a ceremony at the Cleveland County Veterans Memorial at Reaves Park starting at 11:30 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Lt. Gen. Harry M. “Bud” Wyatt III, a former adjutant general for Oklahoma.
Groups or organizations wishing to participate in the parade may download an application from normanfun.com. The deadline for parade entries is Oct. 31.
