More than 550 volunteers including carpenters, plumbers, electricians and general laborers worked together Saturday to make 20 homes in the Norman, Moore, Noble and Lexington areas safe, secure and weather-tight — as part of a nationwide revitalization effort.
“If we had to pay for all that labor, there’s no way we’d keep the project up and running,” said Jan Astani, Rebuilding Together board president.
Rebuilding Together Cleveland County (formerly Christmas in April) targets low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners who are not physically or financially able to perform the needed repairs, Astani said.
