Quality of life improving

The Norman Transcript

Editor, The Transcript:

As I put out our polycarts and recycle bin again this morning, I reflect on a recent "In Toon with Norman" that portrayed the polycart contents dwindling while the recycle bin overflows. The wonderful thing is that it is really true at our house. The reports say that the recycling program is off to a good start. We truly have so many things to be thankful for in Norman.

I commend our city leaders for their efforts to make our community a better place to live. As residents of the campus area, our neighborhood has had (and continues to have) many struggles. The rich diversity that our community offers certainly poses as many different problems as each neighborhood's personality reflects. We have had contact over the past few years with Norman's police department, code compliance dept., legal dept., and city council person regarding such issues as nuisance party houses, illegal parking, etc. The recent implementation of the social host ordinance was greatly appreciated by the homeowners in our neighborhood. We are also now looking forward to the ability to enforce the overcrowding issue that some greedy landlords choose to ignore.

Please take a moment to thank one of our city officials for their thoughtful attention to improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods.

LISA LONG
