NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:
Mr. John Lungren’s justification of abolishing the Norman City three person unrelated ordinance based on the U.S. Constitution is one of the most absurd letters I have ever read in The Transcript.
Using his irrational logic and the U.S. Constitution every person in Norman can “do as they please” without restrictions. It is obvious his motive is making more money through enlarging his market, not helping to create a more livable community for all.
His reference to a “group member has called this law offensive and appalling” seems strange since he was quoted in the February 13, 2014 Transcript as the person uttering the statement. Furthermore, referring to a “group of 53 property managers/landlords” wanting the ordinance abolished is without creditability unless he wants to name the 53.
Norman has been well-governed for the most part since I have lived here following discharge from the Army in 1955. The three unrelated person ordinance has worked well and should be kept in place.
Without it every home in any neighborhood can become a “motel” without paying lodging taxes. The only people to benefit from it being abolished is John Lungren and his group of 53. It is all about John Lungren making more money.
