A right protected by the Constitution

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

Dear Abolitionists Society of Oklahoma,

My name is Emily Frech, and I am a 2013 graduate of Norman High School.

I currently attend Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. I was startled to read this week that your organization has been displaying graphic images of aborted fetuses in front of my former high school.

These gory photographs are on display “to educate” women at my former high school, according to protester Mr. Russell Hunter.

Your website (http://blog.abolishhumanabortion.com/) states that “when great evils arise in the course of human history….the Spirit of God will move people to stand up and speak out.”

Abolitionists Society of Oklahoma, the right of a woman to terminate a pregnancy was made legal in Roe v. Wade (1973) on the basis of the due process clause of the 14th Amendment. To me, violating the Constitution of our great United States of America constitutes a “great evil.” Thus, I find myself taking your advice; I, too, find myself moved by God to take action “when great evils arise in the course of human history.”

The right of a woman to make a deeply personal choice concerning her health is just that: a right, protected by the U.S. Constitution. Trust the young people of my high school to make appropriate decisions for their health and well-being. Leave the women of Norman High School, my alma mater, and our 14th Amendment alone.

And please, take your intimidation, opinions, and usurpation of the United States Constitution with you.

EMILY FRECH

Ithaca, N.Y.
