Center shouldn’t have released woman

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

Re: Dec. 7 article, “Friends help homeless survive winter.” In this article, City Councilmember Tom Kovach relates the story of the homeless woman recently released in the evening from the new Cleveland County Detention Center. She was only wearing shorts and, but for the grace of God, almost froze to death. Really!

Unfortunately, this does not appear to be an isolated incident. If you or I had turned this woman out into the street in her condition, would it not be reasonable to charge us with manslaughter if she had died?

Has our detention system become so callous, so heartless and with such a complete disregard for human life that they would routinely commit such a heinous act? Just asking.
