Standing against prejudice and the ‘good old America’

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

On March 7th, Mark Stanley wrote that he was missing “the good old America.” This “good old America” that he describes seems to have been missing for a long time. Maybe, missing since the devastating invasion by European countries.

The invasion decimated the Native America peoples and their civilizations. Then those European countries turned to the importation of African human beings for a slavery empire. Among these events, “the good old America” was born.

Slavery continued until a massive Civil War. Another century for Norman to stop being a “Sundown” town. The despoiling of  Native America continued. The struggle for women's rights and equality continued.

“The good old America” had and has religion issues and gun violence issues. Its borders crossed a lot of  people, instead of people crossing the borders.

America’s even “the good old America” “inclusion of everyone” is good. Standing against prejudice is good, “good old America.”
