NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:
On Monday, March 24, the League of Women Voters of Norman will host a Candidates’ forum for the Norman City Council, Wards 2, 4, 6, and 8.
The event will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the City Council Chambers in the Norman City Hall and is open to the public. Parking for this event is available in the lots adjoining city hall.
All of the candidates competing for the City Council from Wards 2, 4, 6 and 8 will be in attendance. They will answer questions from the League and from those in attendance during the forum.
The League of Women Voters is a citizens’ organization that works to improve our government and engage all citizens in the decisions that impact their lives.
The league is nonpartisan, which means we don’t support or oppose candidates for public office. However, we are well known for hosting candidate forums.
We undertake this because we believe deeply that the public should hear different views on the issues facing our communities. An honest and respectful sharing of ideas is vital to the functioning of American democracy.
Please join us on Monday, March 24, for a discussion of the issues important in this year’s city elections.
