NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:
A part-time police officer and full-time OU law student in 1949 when I was pre-med told me a story he experienced on duty.
He was patroling Main Street when he saw an elderly farmer in an old Ford coupe on the north side of Main Street heading west, slowly pulling up along and behind the parked cars, then stopping, then slowly backing up, then repeating over and over.
The officer stopped him and told him there was no double parking on Main Street. The old farmer explained that he wasn’t double parking. He had been moving the whole time. No ticket.
