Rioting over not-guilty verdict should stop

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

A very strange thing is happening in America, and that is the utter contempt, irrational prejudice and discrimination against George Zimmerman, an African/American/Hispanic fellow, who killed another African/American in self defense.

Is it because George is only part African/American or because he is also Hispanic? Or could it possibly be because he has a Jewish family name?

African Americans kill each other every day in America, and yet this time a fraction of the American people, as well as the president of America, got bent out of shape and they are getting involved.

The people are rioting, looting and taking to the streets to protest.

The attorney general wants to prosecute this poor, little Hispanic African/American fellow once again.

In my opinion, the reason is because George Zimmerman had a Jewish family name, or it is because he is also Hispanic? If that is the case, then why aren’t the Jewish people and/or the Hispanics rioting and taking to the streets in protest?

Is it because they have more reasoning ability and have figured it out that this is an everyday happening?

Then, too, why aren’t the people who have only one grandparent who was African/American running the streets screaming and yelling and rioting? George Zimmerman had only one grandparent who was African/American, but he still considered himself to be African/American, therefore shouldn’t everyone else? Why must he be discriminated against?

The little child who was killed was about 6 feet, six inches tall and he had been jumping over fences in people’s backyards prior to his being shot, and he was about 17 or 18 years old. He was not 3 years old.

He wore a hoodie over his head and face to avoid detection, yet he was the innocent little child. He had drugs in his system and Zimmerman did not.

I’m sorry, but I simply cannot see the purpose in this looting now, unless this is going to always be a habit, which only hurts the people who own the businesses being burglarized.

Strangely enough, this is what certain people always do when they don’t get their way.

Congratulations are in order for George Zimmerman. He is an innocent man who wanted to live.
