Plan leaves you high, dry

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

Living in Oklahoma, being an “at will” employee is pretty common. If you are not familiar with the term, it simply means that the boss can fire you whenever he wants. This may apply to you and you don’t even know it.

Another thing you may not know? In Norman you are an “at will” resident. The boss, your illustrious City Council, can plop some of this new high density high rise housing right in your backyard or right next door. When it happens, you’ll want to or need to move. You’re fired! Just like losing a career you built a life around, this new high rise kills your grass and your way of life. No mind that you spent a lifetime improving your home and your neighborhood. I suggest an investment in shade plants.

And if simply allowing giant new buildings weren’t enough, the city is promoting them to improve your quality of life! First it was B.3. Then came along N.E., who it turns out is acting for the city’s N.E.D.C.! This may remind you of eating alphabet soup as a child, but this is no child’s play. It’s the sad reality of high density high rise in Norman. Solution? I suggest a mobile home (so you can move it away from this mess and then move it again when the mess finds you).

Thank you N.E.D.C. and Norman City Council for making living in Norman a revocable privilege!
