NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:
A great big thank you, thank you, thank you to our teachers (pre-k through 16 plus) for their continued dedication to excellence and our students. Their loyalty is in spite of the many years our mismanaged government has prioritized education (and other services) for perpetual cuts.
It seems these legislators Oklahomans voted for are completely oblivious how much education contributes to our economy and way of life. This is the “Information Age.” Industry and businesses who are planning to locate also consider hiring an educated staff not the muscles and brawn of previous centuries. Already some companies have hired educated employees directly from Asia and want more.
Those who vote to cut education and services are not considering building up our state and people but seem to be working from a national self-dealing shopping list concocted by wealthy anonymous sources.
Education is the greatest gift today’s society has to offer. Yet our short-sighted government thinks unfairly disproportional tax cuts and protecting favored donors are more important than education.
Those who cut education won’t get my vote. They are hurting Oklahoma’s progress and keeping us at the bottom of all states that make education number one.
Let’s get Oklahoma back on track. Let’s build Oklahoma. Always vote smart.
