NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:
The recent city council elections were quite an eye opener for me. It turned out that I am not the only voter with a “throw the bums out” attitude.
Regrettably, the voters also chose to vote out a council member who does not ignore the citizens and our neighborhoods. Unlike so many candidates, he didn’t simply go along with whatever the contributors, “the developers,” wanted. The term “bought and paid for” comes to mind.
I hope this election gets the attention of our current council members. They should put the citizens first and not the contributors. They can show their support for the neighborhoods by voting against the high-density, high rise rules making its way through committee and on to the city council. They can show their support for neighborhoods by rejecting the high-density, high rise project supported by the Norman Economic Development Coalition on Asp Avenue.
I think we should all do whatever we can to protect our Norman neighborhoods. Neighborhoods are the heart of any community and especially Norman.
