Yes, it’s time to speak out

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

OU President David Boren stated in his guest commentary April 23: “It is time for all Oklahomans to speak out.”

I couldn’t agree more. But if you stand by your statement, why have you placed barriers to keep Oklahomans from speaking out?

I have even attempted to buy advertising in the university’s paper to “speak out.” Not allowed.

You state, “Now with almost no public debate, we are reversing course.”

The reason there is no debate is that today’s University of Oklahoma only tolerates the minority side of the day’s issues.

Values that have been held for years by most Oklahomans are being trampled on.

And when President Boren’s article states, “… we are reversing course,” that is exactly what is going on as the university takes its place in making the greatest paradigm shift America has seen since our earliest settlers sought religious freedom.

The university newspaper’s relentless promotion of homosexuality is a direct attack on the moral values of most Oklahomans and the faith they hold.

President Boren, are you asking Oklahomans to invest in an institution that is working to annihilate the values that have supported us for all our lives?

Indeed, it is time for all Oklahomans to speak out.
