New salon offers unique educational opportunity

NORMAN — The Andrew Freeman Creative Studio recently opened in Norman and is offering Oklahomans unique and rare educational opportunities.

Owners Lindsay Freeman and Nathan Andrew are Oklahoma natives who met a little over a year ago while receiving education that took them from coast to coast. They paired up and brought that big-city learning home to Norman.

“We wanted to bring the education you can get on the coasts to the Midwest. We wanted to find ways to give back to Oklahoma,” Andrew said during the salon’s ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening Thursday.

Having worked and networked with well-known stylists on the coasts, the two said they plan on having those stylists come to Oklahoma to educate others the way they have been educated. Freeman and Andrew also are educators.

“I hope Norman is as excited as we are,” Andrew said. “We’re here to make a statement.”

The salon is at 3750 W. Main St., Suite 5C, tucked in the corner of a business plaza in west Norman. The salon partnered with Procter & Gamble and looks to “provide the stylists with top tier, cutting-edge education,” according to the company’s press release.

“In addition, Andrew Freeman Creative Studio will engage the Norman community to participate in more national and international competitions. As a result, the education and talent will remain local,” the release said.

Freeman is from Seminole and Andrew is a Norman native who grew up and lived here for 21 years before venturing out for training in a larger city. Both of the stylists declined job offers in Los Angeles and New York in order to bring their talents, experience and style to Norman.

“Being Oklahoma natives we wanted to keep the education here and keep the talent here,” Andrew said.

“And we wanted to bring something new to Oklahoma,” Freeman said.
