NORMAN — Some local elementary students will experience a few early gifts this holiday season.

Elevate Church of Moore will accompany Santa Claus and one of his elves Thursday as he delivers bags of new toys to students at Plaza Towers and Briarwood Elementary in Moore and John Glenn in Oklahoma City. The gifts will be distributed by the school to students.

“These schools are special,” Elevate Church Pastor Steven Earp said. “We’re excited to be able to give away thousands of toys this year. Since Elevate launched just more than two years ago, we’ve worked hard to invest in the community. The May 20 storm helped us to fully integrate generosity as a core piece of who we are as a church. Everyone gave after the storm. We just want to keep giving back to the community.”

Elevate, a church with about 300 attendees, along with scores of other churches and organizations both locally and across the state continue to pour resources, time and prayers into the Moore community. Recovery efforts are still under way.

“Imagine if everyone lived generously all the time, not only in a time of crisis. What could we do for our families? For our schools? For society?” Earp said.
