OU Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering School gets new director

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma College of Engineering recently announced that professor Brian Grady will become the next director of the School of Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering.

Grady will take the place of Lance Lobban, who — after 15 years of service — will return to classroom and research. Grady will assume the position in August.

Grady is a Conoco DuPont professor in CBME and serves as one of three outside members on the Chulalongkorn University Petroleum and Petrochemical College’s steering committee in Bangkok.

He is director for the Institute for Applied Surfactant Research, which currently has 15 industrial sponsors, including a number of Fortune 500 companies.

Grady is the author of the book “Carbon Nanotube-Polymer Composites.” His team’s research has been featured in more than 110 refereed papers and 10 book chapters.

He is a technical fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers and had numerous leadership positions in the organization.

He serves as the North American Thermal Analysis Society president and secretary of the Surfactants and Detergents Division of the American Oil Chemists Society.
