World Literature Today to host Puterbaugh Festival

NORMAN — Argentinean and Spanish author Andrés Neuman will be featured at the Puterbaugh Festival of International Literature and Culture from Wednesday through Friday.

Neuman spent his childhood in Argentina and then grew up in Granada Spain after his parents immigrated. He has a degree in Spanish philosophy from the University of Granada, where he also taught Latin American literature.

Neuman was selected as one of Granta’s Best of Young Spanish-Language Novelists; his books have been translated into 14 languages. His latest novel, “Talking to Ourselves” will be published this April.

The following events are scheduled for the festival:

· Wednesday: Opening Night Reception, 6:30 to 8:30, Beaird Lounge in Oklahoma Memorial Union, Live Music and poetry readings

· Thursday: Panel discussion of Contemporary Spanish and Latin American Literature, noon to 1:30 p.m., Ellison Hall, Room 132, brown bag lunch provided, reservation required: email rkmartin@ou.edu; Film Screening: 7 to 9 p.m., Headington Hall, Room 126, “Clandestine Childhood,” in Spanish with English subtitles.

· Friday: Panel discussion About Andrés Neuman, 10 to 11 a.m., Meacham Auditorium in Oklahoma Memorial Union; “Andrés Neuman: The 2014 Puterbaugh Lecture,” 11 am. to noon, Meacham Auditorium in Oklahoma Memorial Union
