NORMAN — You can make a big difference to a financially struggling family by making a tax-deductible donation to Lawyers Fighting Hunger. Co-founder David Bernstein is contributing $5,000 to get the donations started.

Last year, Lawyers Fighting Hunger raised enough money to give away almost 1,000 turkeys in downtown Norman, and the charity gave away thousands more in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and El Reno. Funds raised in the Norman area stay in Norman .

The Regional Food Bank will assist in purchasing the turkeys and storing them. Military personnel, Norman firefighters and Norman police will help hand out turkeys. Classic 50s Drive In has agreed to cook free hot dogs and hamburgers during the distribution.

The distribution party will begin with registration at 11 a.m. Nov. 21. Turkeys will be handed out with free bottled water and soft drinks from noon to 2 p.m. or until no more turkeys are available. The deadline to order turkeys is Nov. 4. All donations sent or dropped off to David Bernstein, 104 W. Gray St., Norman, OK 73069, will go to the Norman turkey giveaway. Checks should be made out to Lawyers Fighting Hunger.
