NORMAN — A hearing for the state’s motion to hold two suspects without bail in connection with the homicide of Justin Barnard, 24, of Norman, was continued Monday in Cleveland County District Court.

Special Judge Steve Stice overruled the motion and set a $3 million bond for Montie Ray Jones, 45, of Jones. The motion for Isaiah Jamil Walker, 23, of Oklahoma City, was sustained and Walker will continue to be held without a bond.

Preliminary hearing conferences have been set for all seven suspects in the case for 1 p.m. today.

Bonds for the other five suspects in connection with the homicide were set by Stice during formal arraignment April 8. Four of the suspects’ bail was set at $2 million, including Dianna Paige St. Clair, 22, Rusty Wooten, 31, Michael Tubby, 21, and Jason Harris, 28. The other suspect, Gary Harris, 29, had his bond set at $1 million.

All seven have been charged with the first-degree murder of Barnard. In addition to the murder charge, the six men also face first-degree burglary and robbery with a dangerous weapon charges.

According affidavits filed with the charges, the men traveled to Norman on March 28 in retaliation to an alleged assault between Barnard and his girlfriend, St. Clair, that occurred a few days prior. St. Clair had requested that the men assault Barnard, the affidavit said.

The men told Barnard to be at the Norman home on North Stewart Avenue, which they later broke into, shooting Barnard in the face and robbing a woman later identified as Barnard’s grandmother, the affidavit said.
