Residents to perform in satirical show

NORMAN — Three local residents will perform this week as cast members in the Oklahoma City Gridiron Show.

“More Obama Drama or Oklahoma Is Well Red” is the title of the show, with performances at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at the Lyric Theatre at the Plaza, 1727 NW 16th in Oklahoma City.

The Gridiron Club, formed in 1928, raises money from the show for journalism scholarships. The show is a song and dance satire of the state, local and national political scenes.

Norman residents Judy Murphy and Carol Cole-Frowe and southern Cleveland County resident Ellie Sutter are part of the cast made up of current and former journalists.

Additionally, Kianoosh Moeini, of Main Street Video in Norman, will video the show this year.

This year’s show is based on “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” a 1980s comedy starring Matthew Broderick, a bored student whose school-ditching day becomes quite an adventure.

Murphy plays the part of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Cole-Frowe is the Gridiron Olympic swimming coach. Sutter is an author and has other parts.

Tickets are $35.50 and are available at the door.
