NORMAN — Beginning Wednesday, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation will close the on- and off-ramps on the south side of the Interstate 35 and Main Street interchange. The ramps will be reopened on Saturday.

The closure will allow the contractor to construct drainage underneath the existing ramps on the south side of the interchange.

After the work is complete, ODOT will reopen the ramps to traffic. Closure at this time will allow the contractor to remain ahead of schedule and may contribute to the early completion of the project this December.

With the ramps on the north side of the Main Street Interchange already closed for the next two to five weeks, the recommended detour routes are as follows:

· Northbound traffic on I-35 wishing to go west on Main should exit at Lindsey and take 36th Avenue Southwest to Main.

· Northbound traffic on I-35 wishing to go east on Main should exit at Lindsey Street and take 24th Avenue Southwest to Main.

· Southbound traffic on I-35 wishing to go west on Main should exit at Robinson Street and take 36th Avenue Northwest to Main.

· Southbound traffic on I-35 wishing to go east on Main should exit at Robinson and take 24h Avenue Northwest to Main.

· Westbound traffic on Main Street wishing to go south on I-35 should take 24th Avenue Southwest to Lindsey Street to access I-35.

· Westbound traffic on Main Street wishing to go north on I-35 should take 24th Avenue Northwest to Robinson to access I-35.

· Eastbound traffic on Main Street wishing to go north on I-35 should take 36th Avenue Northwest to Robinson to access I-35.
