NORMAN — Verizon Wireless stores across the state are offering in-store wireless workshops to help smartphone and tablet users get the most out of their devices.

In Norman, a workshop will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Store at 1644 24th Ave. NW. The free workshop will be specifically dedicated to Apple iPhone users. All smartphone users are encouraged to join.

A recent study by OpenCloud revealed that 46 percent of smartphone owners are not aware of all of the functions associated with their devices. Additionally, 83 percent of smartphone owners use their phones primarily for texting, with 22 percent utilizing their smartphone only as a way to check emails.

“Smartphones can be as simple or as powerful as you want them to be, but it’s always good to know all of the capabilities your phone offers because it can make life, and business, so much more organized,” said Brandon Ballegeer, district manager for Verizon Wireless. “Customers walk away from these wireless workshops with a greater appreciation for their smartphones or tablets and end up putting their devices to new uses that they have never imagined.”

The workshops will cover a variety of topics, including basic hardware functions and features of individual smartphones as well as a Q&A session.

The workshop will include tips and tricks for preserving battery life, device customization and popular applications, as well as tools and resources to help customers manage their wireless lives.
