NORMAN — Small nonprofits lack quality websites to help them promote their causes because they cannot afford the costs, according to Rocky Rutter of the Oklahoma Predictive Maintenance Users Group of Stillwater. He said when OPMUG wanted to redesign their website, the quotes they received were in the thousands of dollars.

Lee Roberts has a solution for groups facing the same problem. Roberts is CEO of theprojectfunder.com, which was founded to provide small nonprofits with websites, hosting, SSL certificates and support at no cost.

Each organization uses The Project Funder’s proprietary integrated community awareness system to help increase their community awareness, sell their wares, reach followers through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media, and identify local business sponsors.

Roberts said small nonprofits often go without websites because they cannot afford the costs associated with building and owning them, but Internet presence is important for any group.

“In today’s electronic frontier, businesses — for-profit and not-for-profit — need more than a website,” he said. “They need a system that helps them increase their community awareness. Without their local, regional, national and global communities knowing about the services they provide, the business cannot generate the positive impacts they desire. The Project Funder’s Integrated Community Awareness System provides our clients with the ability to increase their community awareness.”

The management team has worked on the boards of several nonprofits for more than 10 years, but The Project Funder was launched this year. It helped its first client in June and has been working with nonprofits ever since.
