Sooner Bowling Center to host a free community event as part of celebration

NORMAN — Celebrating 30 years of the Haws family in the bowling business, Sooner Bowling Center will celebrate its anniversary on July 11. In honor of the occasion, the 30 “Incredibowl Years” party will be hosted from 3 to 7 p.m. at their facility, 550 24th Ave. NW.

The Norman and surrounding communities are invited to this free event to celebrate the long standing success of Sooner Bowling Center. Since 1984, the family owned local business has been dedicated to bringing people together through this favorite pastime of bowling.

“Our family is grateful to celebrate 30 years of our family owned business. We love being the place to have fun whether you are serious about bowling or serious about having fun. We’re excited to be able to offer something for everyone at our party, just like we do in our business every day,” said Mandy Haws, general manager.

Haws is excited to announce the inclusion of a bowling clinic at the anniversary party from 5:50 to 7 p.m. The clinic, called “hints and tips for your physical approach,” is for the veteran bowler who wants to hone his or her technique. Costs for the clinic are $2 until July 10, and will rise to $25 at the door on the day of the event. The clinic will be hosted by Christina Holcomb, a USBC silver coach and USA bowling instructor.

Other activities during the party include a bounce house, snow cones and a children’s area, 30-year bowling specials and a few special guests.

Sooner Bowling Center has been family owned and operated for 30 years. Their facility features 24 USBC certified lanes, adult and youth leagues, certified coaches and an on-site pro shop. Sooner Bowl specializes in events and kids’ birthday parties, and also helps local groups and nonprofits raise money.
